This is a basic tutorial with many tips from my knowledge and of other people. So here it goes.
  • First off, open task manager
    Right click the games process
    Change its priority to high
Change its affinity to both cpu's (if you have a dual core)
End other usless tasks that you dont need
Thanks for reading, and I hope this made minecraft go faster for you

IF? Everyone has a dual core.
Or better. In which case I have an AMD FX Six-Core.

I have 4 cores :) Good enough for me :D Most processes are already set to use all the cores.

My affinity settings are already at 4.

I don't really see any speed difference in the priority, in games like NBA 2K12 or Left 4 Dead 2. I run them both maxed-out (except for AA, until I get my new GPU), and still, there is like a 2 FPS difference, if that.

There are some slow 1 core processors out there. Including my sisters computer. It made her minecraft's fps double and didnt crash for 2x the time. I cant play minecraft on the highest graphics settings and with extra shader mods, but with these tips I can while it is perfectly smooth. Also portal 2 had a little fps increase. So some of your games should be getting a fps boost on high graphics settings.
