Mac address filtering

Mac address filtering

ok so i have a belkin router and i try to flter the mac addresses

here is a pic:

M When you enable this feature, you must enter the MAC
A address of each client on your network to allow network access to
N each

D it does exactly the oppisite and disables the ones listed and allowes
A he ones that arent, and not only that bu if you can see #1 is disabled I so if I enable the feature i have my main computer internet disabled

You can get the mac address in ipconfig

So when you add the MAC address it disables that device from accessing the network?
Maybe Belkin got the wording wrong?

maybe but that just means i cant use it because #1 cant be enabled or disabled and its my mac address so it disables it by default :(

mandai got any advice i know you are the smartest one on codenstuff (or maybe just the one that shows it the most) do you have any idea wtf is happening? because i really dont want people from the other street using mine or should i just change my wifi name to "get your own wifi loser" because the seem to always know my password whenever i change, and i dont have the courage (mostly im lazy) or time to confront them

You would probably be better off using encryption like WPA if the goal is to stop others from joining your network, as MAC addresses can be spoofed easily on a LAN/WLAN.
