Format dvd ubuntu

Hi,

How do i format a disk on ubuntu?

EDIT: Will it work if i just delete all files on the dvd and then copy other files to it?

Is your disk a DVD+R or DVD+WR???

The R stands for writable, and WR stands for re-writable. Meaning you can use it over, and over, and over again. Unfortunately their really hard to find now a days as they don't sell them anymore. So the 4 we have we cherish like the last piece of chicken.

So once you've put something on it, you can't erase it out. At least as far as I'm aware of.

A shame they aren't selling 'em :( That's why i prefer USB sticks :)

Buy DVD-RW's they are cheaper than DVD+RW's , and more compatible(most ps2 consoles(I wanted to make a copy of my games) don't support DVD-RW or DVD+RW and our DVD player isn't either)
all other DVD types aren't reusable

Optical media is hardly a rarity these days.
There are CD burning applications that you can use to format CD/DVD-RW discs.
