About Seashore:
Seashore is an open source image editor for Mac OS X's Cocoa framework. It features gradients, textures and anti-aliasing for both text and brush strokes. It supports multiple layers, alpha channel editing, layer modes, brushes, textures and more. It had the same brushes as Gimp 2.6.11, however not all of the built in brushes of Gimp. Seashore is based around the GIMP's technology and uses the same native file format.

However Seashore aims to serve the basic image editing needs of most computer users, not to provide a replacement for professional image editing products.

So if you're looking for a Photoshop alternative then give Gimp a try. As this doesn't have some tools I was looking forward to like perspective, shear, and more. However, Seashore is good for basic image edits. I just wish it had more filters and tools like motion blur, radial blur, and more...

NOTE: Seashore is still undergoing development and may contain bugs so please make sure only to work on copies of important images and report any bugs you find here.

System Requirements:
  • PPC / Intel, Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later
