So does Linux. It put an old Gateway 2000 Solo laptop with Windows 98 preinstalled back to life. (I used TinyCore Linux, the worlds smallest operating system = 10MB)

Got rid of Windows 7, and committed my whole computer to Linux Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal. (With the Unity interface)

I love Unity, but there isn't much customization options, which you always have the option to log into the classic GNOME interface. Just at the login screen change it from Ubuntu to Ubuntu Classic, and you're good.

I've never came across any OS other then GNOME Linux that you're able to customize EVERY aspect of the OS. I know of some software that lets you do it on Windows, but it doesn't beat Linux GNOME for customization, not one bit.
