I was browsing the forums today and show this post.
( viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5657 )
So I thought I would make a fast Tutorial on how to create a transparent image using Paint.NET and the Chroma Key Plugin.

First you need to download and install Paint.NET and Chroma Key Plugin

Download Paint.NET = http://www.getpaint.net/
( http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#download )

Download Chroma Key from the Forums = http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=12991
( http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?ap ... ch_id=2516 )

Install Paint.NET and what ever PlugIns you want.

Open your Image in Paint.NET.
Image

In the "Tool" window choose the "Fill Tool"
Image

In the Colors window, Choose the color (lime or Blue).
Image

With the "Fill Tool" selected, Click on the sections of your Image that you want to
change the Transparentcy.
Image

After you have all the area colored in (Lime or Blue), Choose "Effects" from the main menu.

"Effects > Photo > Chroma Key"
Image

The Chroma Key tool window will appear. Choose the Color that you al useing, (Lime or Blue)
then click "OK"
Image

Now you image needs to be saved in PNG or GIF format.
Only PNG and GIF support image Transparentcy.
Image

"Main Menu > File > Save As > filename.png/.gif > Click Save.

Now your image is transparent.

I don't understand why people call that chroma keying now in image editing. It's called using layers, chroma keying is mainly for video editing.
