can someone give me an idea for any type of program besides a virus scanner there are enough good ones and i can't do hashes lol im open to anything else

Combine VB.NET with PHP

You'll not only learn more VB but you will also learn more PHP.
You can use PHP to do the dirty work for you, and you can use VB to do the easy work.
like if you wanted to insert something into your database you can use PHP, but access the URL using VB ( not using a webbrowser )
