No , depends on what you want. Never tested one btw...
But some people just say "macs are better" because they don't want to realize they spent their money for something useless :P (Not all people , only the ones that only bought a mac for its good looking)

IMO :
Mac = graphics designing and such (IDK)
PC windows = Gaming
Linux = Office

I'm so sick, and tired of hearing this question.

BTW PC stands for "Personal Computer", so you may wanna change that.

So many people debate mac vs windows, mac vs linux, linux vs unix, and you get the idea.

Every OS can get a virus, however some a harder than others. We all know Windows is the "King" when it comes to virus as it's so easy to get one, but it's so much harder to get a virus on linux, unix, or even a mac.

Now some say a Mac is based on a Linux OS. WRONG, it's more Unix-y, than Linux-y.
Mac OS X is based on the Mach Kernel, an open-source kernel which is not used in any other major operating system. On top of that, it runs the FreeBSD services. Apple calls this "UNIX-based". In fact, it pretty much is a Unix system, even though it's not officially called that.

Now some people say you can't get certain programs to run on Linux, or Mac OS X from Windows, when of course you know they're not gonna run natively on the OS, cause their not made for that particular OS, like MS Paint for example, but you can still run Windows apps on Linux, Unix, and Mac OS X, using Wine.

Now Apple only allows their OS to be on an Apple labeled computer, in which I think is good, cause you don't haft to rely or worry about other OEM's. However what I don't like about Apple is the fact that their operating system is way to expensive (some may argue that though), and yeah I know you can make a hackintosh, but again that's illegal as you'll be breaking copyright. I do like the fact that apple stays up to date with some of the greatest processors, graphics cards, etc: out there which enables it to run very nicely. However others argue parts with hardware on a mac, in which I can't discuss, cause I don't have the knowledge to answer that (I'd haft to actually touch a mac to debate that) however you can't say that Mac's are the best at graphic designing, or video production as it's all in the software, and who uses the software, and there's plenty of software for that, that's multi platform. Like Gimp, or Blender. The only advantage I think Apple has over Windows, and Linux is the fact that they can run Windows, and Linux via dual boot, or virtual machine, but Windows users, or Linux users can do the same, minus dual booting or putting Mac OS 10 in a virtual machine.

Now yeah Windows has more software available for it, but that doesn't make it a better OS, cause it depends on how the software is constructed, how it works, and acts with the OS itself, and natively too. One major fact I like about a Windows computer is that there isn't lack of hardware support for Windows I've been able to find everything I need for notebooks, netbooks, and desktops, when repairing computers. It's easy to find, however price range differs depending on what you're replacing, or upgrading. Now of course you can do the same on a Linux computer, or maybe even a Mac, however some products out there lets say you buy a camera, and it comes with a CD, and the software on that CD is only for a Windows based OS, and you can't install that software from the CD on your Linux or Mac machine unless you have other 3rd party software, if any out there for that process. However a major flaw with Windows is the registry as that's pretty much Window's Brain, and makes up Windows besides the software, and the registry is very delicate and if you install, and remove software overtime, the registry can get old, and make your computer run slow. Another thing I don't like about Windows is you haft to Defrag your computer once in awhile to make it run faster, otherwise it's looking for files all over your computer like this.
beforedefrag.png
and is having a hard time finding them, because their cluttered all over your computer, but after your done, it arranges them in memory of where they are so it runs faster.
afterdefrag.png
Additionally you also have to use Disk Cleanup, or my favorite 3rd party software CCleaner (also known as Crap Cleaner) to clean certain parts of your HDD in order for it to run faster as well, and there's a built in option in Vista, and Windows 7 that you can choose for battery power on computer performance, as well as disabling visual effects in order for windows to run efficiently. Now I could go on, and on, but now it's time to go to Linux.

Now Linux is known for it's amazing visual effects, as well as being a free, open source, operating system. However all the software available for Linux is free, but not all is open source. Most Is! but not all. Now with this being the case it's hard to earn money with free software, and haft to go by either people donating money, or bounties and lets face it, it's not an easy thing to do. Now some companies may have software available for Windows with only their device, and in Linux you can get that program to run using Wine, unless of course it's on a CD or requires the .NET Framework (Some say you can run .NET Framework programs in Linux using Mono, however I haven't had any luck). There's a bunch of software for pretty much anything in Linux, and I've been able to do everything I can in Windows on Linux (including video production, producing music, audio editing, programming, graphic designing, etc:) However people seem to say that Linux lacks webcam support, when they obviously haven't taken a look into Cheese Webcam Booth, MPlayer, FFMPEG, V4L, OpenCV, and much much more. Now Linux programs rely on dependencies or packages in order for them to run, and if you don't have them you haft to use a terminal command like sudo apt-get install build-essential or yum install build-essential for example, and Windows users are so used to everything working right out of the box, but it's something to understand, and take into consideration when going into the world of Linux. Some say there's no auto clickers for Linux (Mainly Runescape users) and you're surely wrong I can think of two off the top of my head KAutoClick and xAutoClick. Now I've used Linux for about 7 years (When I started designing) and everything I can do in Windows I've been able to do in Linux (Except voice commands like "start menu" and opens start menu, which that's a built in program in Vista, and 7) Also Linux is great at gaming, (Depending if your computer has a good graphic card, and processor in it), and great for image editing, depending if you have the right software, and know how to use it like Gimp, Blender, and/or Inkscape (all are cross platform) and you can do everything in Linux than you can in Microsoft Office using OpenOffice (cross platform), Audacity (cross platform) for audio editing, LMMS (Win/Lin) for producing music, and the list goes on and on, you just gotta know where to look, so just cause your computers slow doesn't make it a bad operating system, it's something you did. Their all equally great, and some parts maybe stronger than others like Windows with Virus's, but their all good, and it just depends on what you like, which brings me to the next part.

Also "BEST/BETTER" is an opinion based word, just cause I say Angelina Jolie maybe the best in bed, doesn't make it true, or Rodney Mullen is the best street skateboarder, doesn't make it true. So that makes this the end of my opinion on this debate.

niether are better they are different
I would have to disagree with you there :)
I have used Macs for over 13 years in Work and home use, and they are more than capable of Opening 7 gig documents ( which i dont think a PC would do?? But if anyone can open a 7 gig or more document full of text Pictures etc then i will eat my words ) and they are more efficient than any Pc i have ever used...

Chris
Why would anyone need to open a document that big?

Most Magazines that you see in the shops are all done on Macs, as Macs are just Built for tasks like that. I have over the years Designed Brochures and Catalogues for Companys which entail Hundreds of Pictures, Barcodes, Inserts and tons of text, the BEST DTP Package for Mac is QUARK EXPRESS which was what all the Brochures and Catalogues where laid out in, the company i last worked for had the contract for B&Q to design and update thiers and each Catalogue was between 8 and 11 Gig and one of my Macs i have at home is one we used to use for the job and that is a Dual 1.25 GHZ Processor G4 with 2 gig of ram, and is old hat by todays standards but is still up to the task of heavy workloads :)

I love em

Macs are nice for heavy applications.
Windows is nice for medium applications, and developers.
Linux is nice for small & heavy applications, and designers.
Just my opinion.

Going to point something out that most have noticed
Macs are pc's because
pcs = P.C
P.C = Personal Computer.

PCs are the best. I can't do VB.NET without a PC.
