mmm well i have the 2010 Ultimate Version now, and too be honest it's pretty Awesome cooll;

how did you get the Ultimate Version? lol

Well I have a Friend who works for Microsoft, and i was speaking to him the other week and he said he had a few copies that were given to him,and he said he would give me a copy, but you know what i have had lots of people say that too me over the years but this time it all panned out in my favour wahooo; so as a nice gesture he gave me a copy

And yes it is a Legal Copy, and is all registered too me wahooo;

Hmm well from testing it a while back I didnt realy see much difference between 2008 and 2010 components and code wise but I did install the trial version of VS2010 a couple of weeks ago when I reinstalled my computer and ive been using it since then and apart from using more resources and taking twice as long to startup than 2008 its actually pretty good. I think the best feature(s) in 2010 is the ability to give your code a good going over and check for incompatibilities on various platforms before releasing your applications and it makes life alot easier when your bug testing.

It also has alot more features for working in large development teams but to be honest I dont think any personal/home programmers like ourselves will ever use those features in a big way. (Although you never know what the future may hold ;) )

If I was recommending it to a company then yes they should get it rite now but for the individual user like most of us then its a matter of choice with no urgency. VS2008 is still capable of throwing out great quality apps for a few more years yet..I mean VB6 is quite old now but people are still developing with it and still has a massive following but if you need to keep up with the times and create apps for Win7 WPF/Silverlight then you should upgrade as soon as you can.

I think we are due a delivery of VS2010 in the shop where I work in the next week or two and ill be kissing my bosses feet for a free copy when they come in so I will be upgrading then. When I have enough money to buy the new PC that I want (need!) ill be buying one with Win7 pre-installed purely for the key so that if I decide or need to upgrade from XP in the future ill be ok for that aswell..plus its cheaper than buying seperately lol.

So yes if you can get hold of VS2010 then go for it and upgrade but if you cant then dont worry about it theres no immediate need to upgrade cooll;

what is team foundation?

Hello,

Well as the name suggests its basically for working within a team to create a project. Like for example if you had 4 people with different skills like:

Person1: Base Programming
Person2: Database coder
Person3: User Interface
Person4: Tester

You can start a project using team foundation and all of you can work on the same project in almost real time.

Person1 makes the main application but cant do the database stuff so Person2 takes over and does that and then Person1 continues coding and then Person3 makes it look nice before Person4 does all the testing and reports any bugs/errors.
