Desktop/Laptop Question

If i were to get a new desktop computer, would there be a way to use the laptop i have now as a Display, keyboard, and mouse over a local network/over the internet.
i would like to know this because if i travel, i would rather bring a laptop than a full desktop with me.

using your laptop as a display ? O.o
i know there is some way but the best method is to buy a monitor as display for the desktop pc

You could use software like UltraVNC to control/view the system remotely.

Yeah Teamviewer is good too...
but it isnt really fast to do it over internet...

It depends where the two people are. The closer the faster it is, I think.
