Do you want 2 windows installed on one computer? Just install the second one then (but don't choose format option). And then the next time you will reboot, it will prompt an option as to which window to load.

Or you can keep only Windows 7 and install XP Mode from the Microsoft website.

If you install a newer OS the older won't be erased. As Usman said, don't format the disc, just select the primary partition where your xp was installed on. I suggest you to create a backup IF something goes wrong. Take out the install disc after first shutdown :P Installing windows is just like installing a program so it won't be hard at all.

you would like to create a new partition using http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
and install win7 on that
I'm currently triple-booting :P

You should contact your system/component manufacturer and they should be able to get you the driver.
