If you have enough memory on your hard drive, you can install ubuntu on your computer, while keeping windows 7.

I think Windows 7 is more memory efficient than XP, its at least more power efficient.

In the Windows 7 control panel, you can adjust the appearance, and improve performance.

Type this into the start menu to get there:
"Adjust the Appearance and Performance of Windows"

Which do you prefer, I mean which would you like more? I would say Windows XP is for more flexability and I don't know much about Ubuntu. I bet Mike know's a lot about Ubuntu

XP is more memory savy than 7

Ubuntu can be more memory savy than XP that is if you don't use Compiz Fusion, or do insane gaming.

Also what I underlined is the same for XP, and 7. (Except for the Compiz part, cause that's just Linux)
