ChromeOS|What do you think?

Chromium OS
Chromium OS is an open-source project that aims to build an operating system that provides a fast, simple, and more secure computing experience for people who spend most of their time on the web. Here you can review the project's design docs, obtain the source code, and contribute...

If everything gets stored on the 'Cloud' and the OS is open source.... that gives people the information about connectivity towards the Cloud, thus a mass hacking of all user data just like Sony's epic fail with playstation. What are your thoughts?

I am guessing the data in the Cloud would be encrypted before actually given, if that is what you mean.

I like Chrome OS, cause I pretty much live in the browser, and only use 4 apps on my desktop (Blender, Gimp, Inkscape, and LMMS) I could always convert to
Sumo Paint from Gimp, as well as
Raven from Inkscape, and even
Soundation Studio from LMMS. (Still no web based video editors can create the effects I need, same with 3d modelers.)
I like Chrome OS, because the cloud has an unlimited about of space, which means I can store all my photos, videos, and music in the cloud. Which is very beneficial for the user. As for corrupting the cloud. That's impossible, but corrupting Google Chrome's browser from a website you visit. Just like it does on Windows. I can see that happening, seeing how Google did a great job releasing it's API's for Chrome. To make it easier for developers to make powerful extensions for Chrome.

I think someone made a similar topic about this a while ago aswell.
Personally I like to know where my files are and save them to flash drives etc and im sure Chromebooks would be able to do the same thing because their bound to have USB ports on them and everything BUT if we saved our files to external drives that would again defeat the whole point of it because the whole idea behind the cloud is that you store your files online thus rendering ChromeOS pretty pointless again.
Also I dont think the cloud space for storing your files will be unlimited because once ChromeOS gets put out to the world its probably going to have a good few million users and you can imagine the amount of space they will take up!. I also read somewhere google will probably charge a yearly fee for storage space upgrades which will be on top of your internet bill (not everyone has unlimited bandwidth)..and thats another point rite there lol if you dont have an internet connection then it would be useless :?
Anyway similar features are already available for some PCs/Laptops I know that Sony Vaio laptops have a quick-web button that boots to the browser in 10-15 seconds without loading the OS.
I dont know about anyone else but personally waiting 30-60 seconds for my computer to boot up doesnt bother me one little bit lol. My emails aren't going anywhere, my files aren't going anywhere, my social networks aren't going anywhere..what difference will a few less seconds of boot time really make?..seriously..think about it :P

Even with encryption on the data, in the source code it still shows how they encrypt it. :(

If you look at it right now though for all the videos, music, pictures, etc: that are on the web to date beats any hard drive out there. As long as you use free services like
YouTube for videos, say
Facebook for your photo's, and
Grooveshark for your music.
Only flaw is all your music, videos, etc: aren't in one place.

So what do you guys suggest? Convert to ChromeOS? It's same as Google Chrome just with some extra features. I don't find any good points of switching to ChromeOS.

Chrome OS isn't for everybody. If you're say computer illiterate then Chrome OS is for you with the instant updates, sandboxed tabs, instant on, etc:
I personally will stick with Windows, Linux, and OS 10. I love Google Chrome, and all I just wouldn't want that to be my OS.

Chrome's OS is meant for the people who just use the Internet. With ChromeOS you cannot program in an IDE etc.

You're wrong there! Haven't you heard of the
Cloud9IDE?
