ok so i set my computer to default factory settings (Acer Aspire One, AOD255e)
and when it finished installing the OS it starts up the OS(winXP)

But it just freezes there (i waited 10-20 minutes). it shows the desktop background not even the XP logon screen

after waiting the 10-20 minutes i just made it force shutdown (holding the power button for 3 seconds) and then i started it back up. But at the boot screen it says
Sorry for the inconvience, but windows cannot start correctly.
...
Possible reasons for failure power went out or reset button was pressed.
...
Safe mode*
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt

Load last known good configuration *

Start windows normally*

*I've already tried this

anyone got any ideas or do i have to get it fixed

Well, the error message you got was most probably because you forced the shutdown, but as for the desktop freezing, it might have been loading personnal settings for the first time (it does that at my school sometimes), or a file was missing on the install CD

You might want to contact Acer and get a new CD, if possible, and if that is the cause of your problem.

Notebooks should support cds. Are you talking about netbooks?

The event logs may show the reason for this issue.

If you right click My Computer then choose Manage, you will see event viewer.
You will want to look in the system logs for anything out of the ordinary.
