Judging by the wikipedia article I just read, this would mainly affect physical products, and the patents for both those and infrastructures found on the Internet.

For now, I don't think this is as big a threat as was SOPA/PIPA. But we'll have to see.

this comes from my state rep.
On January 23, 2012, a procedural vote on S. 968 was scheduled in the Senate; however, Majority Leader Reid announced that this vote will be postponed in order to allow for modifications to the bill to be made . Furthermore, House Judiciary Chairman Lamar Smith announced that further consideration of H.R. 3261 would be postponed indefinitely.
SOPA & PIPA is NOT dead. Just being re-drawn.

I knew that Sopa and Pipa were not dead,

The government will bring it back out but with more propaganda and convince people to allow for the bills to be passed.

As for ACTA I've only just heard of it, it doesn't sound as bad but ISP's monitoring what files are on their files and what is being uploaded/downloaded will be a worry.

Wikipedia:

"Signed 1 October 2011"

It is not another version of Sopa but of course I am against this because of the ISP filtering. Not cool. >.<
