To get you to understand the project a lil better. Most of you know I'm pretty poor as well as my family, and the city's unemployment rate is in the top 20's, and the Rock River (Which happens to be in my back yard, sort to speak as I live in a town house) is #11 more most polluted waters in the country. (They advise us not to eat the fish, or swim in the water, as it's so contaminated)

Anyway I have two bikes a mountain bike, which the chain is stuck, and the derailleur is screwed up, but this is my main source of transportation (I would rather ride a bike, walk or jog, than be in a gas guzzling vehicle)

My other bike is a bmx bike (Diamondback), I actually found in the river, in my back yard. At the time the handle grips were burned (as in, caught on fire), The rims were bent, and now even more so, cause I haven't rode the bike sense being hit by a car a couple months back, but now it's no longer ride able. However I thought about making it into a stationary bike, with a stand so your laptop is in front of you, and by pedaling the bike, you'll be able to charge your laptop. My only problem at the moment is that a lot of laptop wall chargers have different inputs for different laptops. So why is this a problem? Well this is gonna be a gift for my sisters 21st birthday. (I'll be a little late, but I think she'll like it, as she's always talking about working out, but never does it. So this should really help her out)

My other problem is finding someone who will distribute a free 20' rear bike rim, as the last one got torn up pretty good. I don't have the rim anymore as I had no use for it, so I sent it to the recyclers, and got a couple cents for it.

I'm also planning on making other stands, and inputs for it as well so tablets, mobile devices, and usb accessories will work. Although like I said I'm planning this, but I need to finish what I have above first.

So would you guys like to see me record a video on making this project so others can do it?

Hmm I would be interested in seeing how thats done and when you put it on youtube im sure you will get lots of hits. If it looks easy in the video I may build one myself it would come in handy when the electric cuts out lol.

Hey Mike

yeah that sounds a great idea

I have seen similar things in Spain, like a Drill powered by riding a stationary bike and other such things..

sounds great :)

lol this is a great idea, if you are too lazy and you want to go on your computer, you are forced to workout in order to play on your pc :D

I've seen that drill powered bike, but have you seen the AquaSkipper, ErockIT, or the Hoverbike.

After these projects my biggest project I'll work on making a flying vehicle, but that means I need to get a pilots license. (Can't give out any hints on this one)

So it's official I will record the process of making this laptop charging stationary bike lol (I like the flow of that name lol)

That's a great idea. I've seen some bikes which provide electricity for the lights built onto the frame of the bicycle. But don't you think that the voltage will be quite low? Or maybe the adapter handles it? I'm a little confused. Anyways, I love the idea and really would like to see it. And if the total cost is not much, I'll definitely build one myself.

Yeah I'm working on the mathematics to make sure everything runs smoothly. Also gotta make a blueprint, and patent it once it's been finally created. After all that the video's creation of how to make it will be posted. Although this isn't like a month project as these type of things take time.
