I have a dvd that has data on it. Is there a way to reset every bit of the dvd to 0? (so it has no formatting, etc.)

You need to use your burning software and select erase..try do a full erase and I think you can do it by right-clicking the drive in explorer and select format (make sure its your dvd drive your selecting lol)

I havent used a RW disc in years I think the drive ive got which is brand new and ive had for over a year has been used once..I do everything on memory sticks now.

CDs and DVDs aren't all that reliable now. Rewritables are even worse. They don't have a long life so the data becomes corrupt. So make sure you have backups of it.

well you can erase them 1000x

but never been told that the quality will gone bad after few times.

they are lots of programs to erase your cd/dvd

even nero, or other burn program's like cns said will do the job

I have a question somewhat related to this, so i wont make a new topic, is it possible to watch DVD-RW movies written (not hard-burned) on the DVD Player ?
When i move movies or files to the DVD explorer it asks if i want to use it as memory stick.

I am trying to burn an ISO to a dvd, but all of my DVD's have been used, and I can't burn an ISO to a used disc. I want to reset the DVD so it is like it has never been used

You can try copying a movie to the DVD-RW and see if it works.

if your dvd has a -rw or +rw

you can format it with your burn dvd writer.
you can even use nero to write or format your dvd

like cns said you can pick fast format or complete format takes longer
but it will erase everything so it will be as a new dvd.

or try to find google: express burn
