Seems like it was a glitch. Never mind.

Have you tried turning it off and on again lol
It could just be glitch and you should check your bios make sure the HDD is being detected otherwise I think maybe your drive may have died :?

That's terrible to hear I've just lost most of my files but that was my own fault. I always write my passwords down in a notebook and I try to keep alot of stuff on USBs etc

Internal hard disk drive not found
To resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive.
No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility
Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics.
That is what i get when i reboot.
Edit: The button (reboot) i pressed was the one on-screen.
I turned it off completely then on again and then windows started normally, thanks craig lol, you made the process faster.

Ok try removing the HDD from the laptop and putting it back in..theres usually a small screw or 2 underneath the laptop where the HDD sits so unscrew that..remove the HDD and put it back making sure its fitted properly but do all of that carefully.

If your hard drive keeps disappearing from the BIOS then that might indicate there is a fault somewhere. You might want to make sure your data is backed up.

Aren't flash drives better than DVD's? And I have a question about backups: Which is the best online 'private' photo storage website?

I think SkyDrive is private, maybe PicasaWeb. I use both, and as long as you don't share the links, at least in PicasaWeb, you can choose who can see the images.

They maybe in looks and in terms of some having more space than a DVD, But they are prone to Failure and IF anyone on here has had a Drive Failure then you will know that losing all ya stuff from way back is a real pain.
I still have CD's that i copied and they are 8/9 years old or more and work just fine.
At the end of the day(it gets dark

) I would not put my trust in a drive that can have IO Issues at any time.. I have lost a lot of stuff over the years and in my personal experience I dont want to go through that again.
