Cannot Shrink Partition?
GoodGuy17
Hello,

My hard drive doesn't seem to want me to shrink my partition. I want an 80GB section cut out (of a total of 788GB free) and it won't let me.

Here's a video, it's too hard to explain in words.
Can anyone help? I'd like to have a partition for installing OSs to test.

Try defragmenting it. I don't think you can shrink the partition if it has any data stored in the section you want to cut off.

Sorry, didn't work.

I'll probably end up buying a new one, because I need a 7200RPM one in anyways. But I'd like to be sure that this partition cannot be shrunk in any way before I toss it.

Use EASEUS Partition Master.
That should work for you as it worked for me lol.
Instead of LOL use this -
LSIBMHBIWFETALOL

Which means -
Laughing silently in between my head because it wasn't funny enough to actually laugh out loud!

Boot from Ubuntu :? GParted is the best partition manager by far in my opinion (maybe because I just like Ubuntu )

I had this problem before, and the only way I could fix it was I booted to Linux from my flash drive (I used Ubuntu, but you can use whatever distro suits you best) and I opened up Disk Utility and had to use that. Windows Disk Management tool sucks anyway. Disk Utility works a whole lot better so give it a try, and if you have the same problem simply reply, and we'll do our best to help.
