Hi, this is my first post here. Recently, I've written a media player in Visual Basic.Net. It is special because it uses a library which I wrote myself, instead of relying on the Windows Media Player library, which sucks. Most of all, it is open source.
It is currently in 0.0.0.3 but I've already started the development of 0.0.0.4.
Also, it has two completely different versions of it, one is FL Player and another one is FL Player Aero.
FL Player Aero has more glass and can only be run on Vista / 7.
Requirements :
OS : Xp/Vista/7(Vista/7 For FL Player Aero)
.NET Framework : 4.0 or above
Features :
Playback :
-Supports dragging file over icon(play the file dragged over the application's icon)
-Play by codec(plays the file according to the codec installed in your computer)
-Supports full screen(video only)
-Supports small sized mode(during audio playback)
-Supports repeat after playback
GUI(Graphical User Interface)
-User friendly
-Windows Classic(95/98/2k/ME) style buttons(author is old-school Windows user)
-Supports keyboard shortcuts
-Shows playback device, status, etc during the playback
Application
-Open source(licensed under the GNU General Public License)
-Display change log and release notes
Documentation
-Documents are written in plain text files
Coming soon :
-Single window only(only plays files on a single FL Player window)
-Bug fixes and more
-Faster library

Nailing my feet to the floor is easier than using my own muscles to balance, but you don't see me doing that

why do we need .net framework 4.0 for this?
yeah

Anyways, I've rewritten the library from scratch and it fixed that problem.
As for your problem about the complicated GUI, that 'textboxes' is actually the information about the current file playing and what device(driver) it is using.
In 0.0.0.4, I'll add a checkbox in the preferences to toggle the 'textboxes' visibility.
