no hosting gives away free domains that are popular like .com , .net , .biz , etc
but you can register at Vistapanel.net and get a free co.cc name but not .coms or nothing without buying
you can get a forum free @ Freeforums.org and buy a domain.com for $15 a year
i have one on both
the freeforums website i made is

the Vistapanel site i made is
Alphamodz.co.cc
Note: im not advertising i don't use either site much but those are examples of sites

You could always host the site yourself which would be free, then all you need is a domain name - subdomains are offered for free by many DNS providers but second level domains will cost money.
