the error occurred when there was a lighting storm and my computer accidentally shut off yesterday.

i use spybot-search&destroy. Free, and works like a charm!

Update

I went on the Avast Forums and Posted a Thread about the Issue

They recon its a Scam that is going around, and what they do is ring you up, get you to check the Event Viewer for ERRORS, Then say that they can fix it and supply you with Anti-Virus that will cure it, But as they do they put Keyloggers and the like on your System.

They also said that Microsoft would never TELEPHONE you to say that there was a Problem??

anyways that is what i have been told on the AVAST Forums.
