Hey everyone, I just picked up a new netbook to use for when I'm at school or just out and about, just a question, do you reckon I should stick with XP or switch to 7 on it.
Heres the specs:
CPU: Intel Atom 1.66GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR2
HDD: 160GB
Would switching to 7 reduce my battery life? Could someone who knows a bit about this let me know whether it is wise to switch or not?

Hey
mmm not really sure, XP is a Great OP/SYS and so is Win7, It all depends what YOU like, If you are just Browsing the net and googling and coming on this Fantastic Site, Then i does not matter what OP/SYS you put on it as they will both do the same.

Chris
Thanks for the advice chris, I guess ill dual boot and see how it goes cooll;

i think 7 does take up more batter power because mine says it will last 2.30 hrs but it only last about 30min to 1hour(not sure if it could be different with xp because this laptop came with 7 already installed).
XP is good for small note books because 7 uses a lot of aero graphics (which are battery killers) But 7 is better for batt. life on a laptop (3gb ram - 220 hd) Hope that helps cooll;

I would have to say XP
..mainly because it only has 1GB ram and Win7 may tie up your resources on it unless you disable all the pointless eye candy stuff.

XP, cause of the 1 gig of ram, and windows 7 uses more cpu than XP simply for running all the extra effects, which you can disable. I'd just say stick with whatever OS came with it bro, but backup your data. Don't ever forget to do that, it's very important.
if you were to upgrade it to 7, i would reccommend installing more ram (i have 4 gigs). Also note that some programs lose functionality because they were not made for 7. I do recommend using 7.
I would have to say stick with XP.
Im only posting this so that you can see that XP is better in a way.
Win7 is for desktops.
