Maybe take it to the local mechanic or maybe your friend that you talked about!

What I'm gonna do, and I really don't want to, but this CD drive thing is becoming a huge problem, especially if I get something like/around this problem again. So I'm thinking gonna take my laptop to a computer repair shop out here, and have them fix my computer. It'll probably be about $90 - $130, and idk how to pay for it, but my computer would be fixed, and they'll hold onto it until I pay, and I can also pay them little by little as well until it's fully payed.

If I do go threw with this I'm gonna have them fix my CD drive, the boot problem, completely wipe the whole hard drive, and reinstall windows vista, and the drivers as well so it's like my computer is completely new. (I have my pictures, videos, and everything backed up on my 16GB flash drive)

I really really don't wanna do this, but none of the options I've found online seem to help, no one I know personally know's how to fix this, and this CD drive is ticking me off so bad. So I feel this will be a good thing for my laptop, as well as myself, cause of my anger problems.

Well I just took my laptop to the shop today, their going to fix my CD drive, so it works, and wipe my hard drive completely clean, and do a reinstall of Vista to the C drive with the drivers. (I chose Vista, cause my laptop came with it, and every laptop you guy with/for windows has a sticker on the bottom, which shows your product key, and they'll be using that. If I had a legit copy of Windows 7 I would choose that, but I don't, and I don't believe in piracy so that's why I'm getting Vista back.)

So once their done fixing my computer their gonna call me on my cell, and I'll go pick it up, and pay them ($45 an hour) which this is gonna be incredibly expensive, and I don't have the money to pay for it, but I can pay them bit by bit overtime until I pay it all, and then I can get my computer back. So what this means is I won't be here for awhile again, cause of no computer to use, and when I do come back I'll most likely be using my sisters, or the library's computer once I go back home from sex rehab.

Well I just got my laptop back from the shop today ($67.50) and I noticed the guy that worked on it joined my c, and d drives together so I have the full maximum space. (idk how he did it, but hey, it works!)

All I'm doing at the moment is restoring the files from my flash drive to my computer now.

I'm only going to be using portable applications at PortableApps.com, so I don't haft to worry about my registry, or when I wanna uninstall a program I don't have extra files left over.

These are the programs I have on my hard drive right now.
7zip
CCleaner
Audacity
Blender
Gimp
Firefox
FileZilla
HDD Health
JARMaker
Resource Hacker (or ResHack)
uTorrent
VLC Media Player
bHTML
Speccy
and PortablePython

I'm thinking on switching to Chrome instead of Firefox as Chrome is faster than FF, and FF seems to be delaying in time as it takes 2-3 seconds for the right click menu to show up on the bookmarks. (on my computer anyway)

So it's a possibility at the moment, but idk.

Also I'm going to be developing programs in ONLY Java, and I'll be compiling them in Batch.

Yup, Chrome is the best. I'm using it right now. And haven't got any bugs since 2 years.

I've used Chrome in the past, but I personally like FF better, but if this little issue becomes more an annoyance or problem, I'm gonna be switching to Chrome, and making a new userbar of course.

I put in a blank CD, and it didn't no anything, so I opened up Speccy, and I have no optical drives detected like before, so I can't back up my OS like I was planning by making an iso image with InfraRecorder, and burning it to the CD.

So I'm pretty ticked off at the moment, cause I not only spent the money to get vista reinstalled, but for my optical drive to work, and it doesn't. So their not gonna like me tomorrow.

Whats with all the double posting?

I'm sure there are ways you could have done this cheaper. If you have a branded laptop you may have been able to restore the Vista installation from a recovery partition or restore cd, or if you don't have one you could get a Vista retail CD + license for around £80.
You could also try swapping the optical drive, if the case is generic enough you could probably find one for £20-40.

I took my optical drive and and switched it with my sisters, however mine worked on her's, but hers didn't work on mine. So I really can't figure out the problem, and I'm guessing it's the motherboard, but not to sure.

Also sorry I didn't realize I was double posting, I posted a reply to keep people updated, and also to reply to other replies as well.
