Hey all

I thought WE had a HELP Section for Computer Issues? But as i cannot find it then i have posted this in here.

My problem is:

I have a very sluggish PC Tower that has WINXP on it and this is the PC i am using for 3D.
Now everytime i start it up, it loads windows and the desktop, then i get the VB Debugger Pop up saying

"Unhandled Win32 exception = wuauclt.exe" and what debugger engine i want to use, I did load the debugger at one stage but its all Greek to me :)

Now i have looked on the net and found a site where other people have the same issue, people on this site said you can disable the Process and everything will be fine. So i disabled it and it makes no difference at all. If i dont enable a debug engine then the Popup will appear about 3 to 6 times and then i can launch 3D Max, But as soon as 3D Max finishes Loading the PC just restarts itself... and this happens everytime :) and its driving me MAD goofy;

And the most annoying part of it is = i have a cracking Website on the go and its gonna be done in 3D and i am only on the First main page :roll:

Anyone know how i can sort it out?

Chris

Yes, Try To Start In Safe Mode By Pressing F10 Or Another Key (Depends On The Computer) After You Turn It On And Try To Restore It. This Is My Method And It Helps If I Get Problems. cooll;

Did you install anything lately? If so, start the PC in safe-mode and uninstall the program. What did you use to disable the program/file from startup, you might want to use RegEdit and the path: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run". If its not there try this path: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run". If you can't file the file there either, it might already be disabled from the startup

Thats a strange one hungryhounduk. I think thats the process for windows updates...goto control panel and disable automatic updates see if that helps.

I had this problem a few months ago. It seemed as the "wuauclt.exe" was infected by some type of malware virus. And as I removed all instances of this virus from the Registery and the file itself (after about 6 hours of hunting it down) it was inside the "wuauclt.exe" and everytime the pc booted the virus recopied itself. I tried alot of different sollutions the i found on the internet, but in the long run I ended up Re-Installing the OS plus partition and complete format. This way if the virus was write to the unused partition (1.4megs) it would be able to copy itself again.

What I would try to do is Start in Safe Mode and run a complete virus scanner to see if the scanner can pick up the virus and where it may be located. Then you can track down how it got on your machine.

I hate that you got hit by this thing....Maybe you will get lucky and find a better way around what I had todo.
