One of my friends, Karen has an Asus Eee PC. She told me that she tried dual booting Linux with Windows 7 (via Wubi), and overwrote the master boot record with grub, and wants me to reinstall Windows 7 for her.

I know I could write the contents from the CD to a flash drive, and use the command prompt to make it a bootable install (example), however my optical drive is undetected, and all I need to do there is get a new one, but I use my 4GB flash drive as a CD for Linux using the "Universal USB Installer".

Now I'm currently saving my money for a MacBook. So I was wondering as an alternative way instead of getting an external dvd drive; could I use my 16GB flash drive to install Windows 7 for her, and if so how would I accomplish that???

if the Notebook allows to Boot from a USB Device then just copy the whole Win7 CD to the Usb flash drive and Boot it ;)

I already knew that as I have it mentioned above. I'm looking for a program that'll install a windows ico to the flash drive so I can make it a bootable drive, however I haven't found anything which is why I'm asking this.

We shall let the revolution begin.. the revolution for freedom, freedom against censorship. We shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender

The first link is the same site I used as my example link in the original post above, in which I'm trying to avoid, and link 2 uses the same concept.

Anyway NickMiller from LockerGnome told me about WinToFlash, and it worked just the way I wanted, so if anybody else has a problem like this, well here you go.
