Simple, make a web based os. It can be coded in HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JQuery, Ajax, MooTools, JavaScript, PHP, Flash, etc:
RULES:
1. The Icons, GUI, etc: MUST be made by you! (Cursor can remain default, but if changed, you must have made the new cursor)
2. The coding must be done by YOU! (I won't want to see the exact code on another site! That's forbidden!)
3. All downloads MUST be free of charge.
NOTE: When you code the web os. Make sure to code it on your hard drive, and when you're ready to release it into the contest. Put all the javascript files, html files, css, etc: into a compressed zip file as well as folder(s). Then post it on here for download. As I won't be going to whatever.uuuq.com/osname to view your web application. The OS MUST be uploaded, on here for download, unless it's to big to be uploaded. Then use an external resource like MegaUpload.com for example.
To ensure you made the images, gui, etc: I want you to save the project file and host that into the zip file as well. Some cases you can't if you're using MS Paint or one of the online image editors out there, but if you're using PS, Illustrator, Gimp, Inkscape, Paint.NET, etc: Save, and host the project file. It'll give you a much better chance on winning.
The theme can be anything from tech, abstract, to whatever you want it to look like the sky's the limit. Just as long as you design it, and code it. All apps must be made by you!
Now a web based operating system takes time to make. So the contest will end on January 1st of 2012.
Now! This gives you more than enough time you need to make the icons, code it, make room for improvement, etc: So I want No Excuses you got a half a year, to come up with a name, design, and code it. So hopefully this will be a fun contest for you guys, and maybe you'll learn a little more.

Ive just seen this and i'm going to start coding. It sounds like a fun project to work on =D I'm not the best of coders so the code might be messy
