Title says it all. More to come. For now, the letter from Steve Jobs himself:
INFO FROM AOL.COM
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve

I foundout about this here.
I personally think people reply way to much on Steve. Coming up with new ideas isn't as hard as people make it seem.
I personally don't admire him as much as others do, cause I have my own opinions on technology, as well as of Apple, and I'll leave them to myself. However what does this mean for Apple? I honestly believe it's not gonna change at all, as the company is still strong, and will continue to be with the products they've produced, and will continue to produce in the future. Sure there's less inspiration, but why rely on someone else to give you inspiration. You gotta have the heart, integrity, and durability to be able to inspire yourself, as well as enlighten yourself to make a change in the present as well as in the future.

I agree for the most part, but I think Apple's numbers are just going to go down, and will keep doing so until someone there realizes they don't need Steeve.
