I am working on a game right now, and I am wondering what the best image format to make sprites in is. I want to know: what format loads fastest?
From http://www.waveofweb.com/web-design/whi ... s-fastest/
"Here is a quick tip to make your pages load faster. Just remeber that .PNG format loads faster than any other image format like .JPG or .BMP."
That is for web design, though. It should still apply.

When they describe pages loading faster they are probably thinking in terms of connection speed rather than processor usage.
Technically an uncompressed image format would load the fastest, but it may vary depending on the file size.

I agree with mandai it realy depends on size if your loading it onto a web page then size does matter and smaller is better lol.
If you are loading the images into software using images stored locally then I wouldnt think it matters unless you have a slow ancient computer :? ...I find .png imags to be the best though.
