Well, You know as well as I do.
Linux has 10x better security then windows(any version).
Please you can use SSL/SSH on a linux server where windows has no idea what the hell SSL/SSH is.

My main server is windows but only for my radio station.
If I had my way about it, I would run Ubuntu 10 or 11 or CentOS 5.5 or 5.6 for my web pages.

But! As it is now, I have 6 computers. 2 with windows, 1 with Ubuntu 10, 1 with OSX 10, and the other 2 have CentOS 5.5 on it. Now I only use 1 Windows PC to server my station's stream and webpages. The others are testing servers.

I will say this.
If I had to choose what OS I would run as a server.
I would choose a Linux base system.
Just for the security of it alone.

Linux FTW!

I'd say Mint, and that is what I'm using now, cause GNOME 3 still has to many problems.

SSL over RDP has always been a supported option since the release of Terminal Services for Windows Server 2003.
Has anyone actually had any experiences in security between the two other than just saying so?

Thanks for that tidbit mandai,
I personally haven't used Windows Server at all. Even tho I do have a OEM DVD still in plastic.

By chance, can Apache, MySQL, and PHP still be used over the default IIS that comes with Windows Server?

Yes Apache, MySQL and PHP can all be used on Windows servers.
