I found a nice managed OpenGL wrapper on CodeProject, so I have tried a few things.
I continued to build on one of the samples that I downloaded ("TwoDSample"), and I like the result
It responds to a few keys. Try clicking on it (left or right). You can also use the arrow keys, and + and -.
