Open a port with visual basic
clanc789
Hey guys,

Since I would like to play Quake 2 5.00 (I can provide you with the files if you need to test this) I would you to explain me HOW to make a program that is able to OPEN a port (and CLOSE one) without admin rights. The port is for the PC only, another option would be the shutting down of the firewall without admin rights (I know its unsafe but I dont care about that since that pc ONLY has LAN connection).

Could you help me out? +rep if you can!

Why would you need to open a port if it only has lan connection ?

Because I want to play a LAN game (Quake II to be exact), the ports are closed so the computers can communicate. That is why they need to be opened.

with admin rights you could try this:
viewtopic.php?f=21&p=62899&sid=e2beff28 ... e39#p62899

it's not possible without admin rights I think...
