IDE Hard drive poblem

Hey All,
I have an old IDE hard drive here it's from 2004.
I have bought an IDE/SATA Adapter and plugged it all in and turned the power supply on.
Computer picks up that there is Mass USB storage connected, and the hard drive spins but nothing actually
opens up. The drive is making loud clicking sounds but does anyone know what the problem could be?
Am I doing something wrong? Is the drive actually dead? Any light on this would be appreciated

If the drive is clicking then that is usually a sign that the drive is dead or dying. I also have a portable drive (powered by USB3 cable) that does the clicking thing occasionally when I plug it in but sometimes disconnecting/reconnecting the drive solves the problem.
Make sure all connectors are in and secure.
