Tutorial: How to add custom detections

Small tutorial how to add custom detections to ChocoScan, Since most of you probably know ChocoScan works with MD5 hashes to detect a infected or clean file, It checks it against the (custom) detectionlist, Now if you have a infected file you can add it to the custom detection list by opening the extra application Simple Hash then opening the file and pressing 'Get Hash' this calculates the MD5 hash of the file, Open up the customdetections.txt in the /data folder and paste in the calculated MD5 hash on a new line, Save the file and restart ChocoScan if it's open, Your file is now in the custom detection list!
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hello ChocolateUniverse,

This looks good and I think you have the rite idea but this only works if you give it a file to scan. The reason for a virus scanner is to scan every file on the system and check if its infected, users wont know which file is infected so wont know what to scan :?

You should have it loop through every directory/folder/subfolder on the computer and check every single file against every MD5 hash in your database.

Its looking good and I hope you keep going with it cooll;

That would probably take a LOT of resources.

Anyway I could give it a try later, Tommorow is dedicated to the Birthday Marker remake.

Hello Everyone,

I think that this Virus Scanner is great. It can be used to check a file after downloading to avoid any viruses or threats. I hope it will be more extended in the future and that it would scan the whole computer.

Thank you.

You do know VB won't get you that far in making antivirus software. Well if this isn't good enough for your competition then you can suspect that except for my entry your competition will be EMPTY
