Guidelines for Selling?
GoodGuy17
Hello,

I have always been extremely dubious for selling apps(and don't plan on doing so any time soon, due to lack of skill), but what are some key things to do to make it worthy of money? Sometimes, an idea for a sell-able program pops into my mind, but it fades away because of realizing I don't know what to add so someone would buy it. What should you add if you want to sell an app? If you sold an app, should you use serial keys? I just need some pointers on how to start an app and finish it, then sell it without being pushed down by my mind. Please post back!

P.S. If I can get my parents' PayPal working, I will buy that Product Key Manager Pro-X from CodenStuff to use for my apps, if I should use serial keys.

Hello Reboh,

Well I dont think theres any limitations on what you could sell aslong as it works and does what it says it does. If you look at all the different type of software you can buy online its not all big stuff like movie editors/graphics software its also things like file management and contact lists etc.

Theres no 100% guarantee that your software will sell but if you dont try you will never know will you. Take my Pro-X for example..its a very simple app that lets you put activation keys into your software but its not as sophisticated as the big "brand" ones but it does the job it was designed to do. I never thought it would sell but so far its sold 24 copies at £3 each and made over £70 and the only advertising its had is a video on youtube.

I think the best thing to do is make something that you enjoy working on and just keep updating it with more features as you go along because if you dont enjoy making something then you will get bored of it pretty quickly and move onto something else.

I say if you want to sell something then go for it..youve got nothing to lose by trying and to make people aware of your software you advertise it by doing things like: make a youtube demo video, make a facebook page about it and list it on as many websites as you can or make your own website just for your software.

Dont be put off because you think "this will never sell!"..give it a try and see what happens cooll;
